A Digression of Sorts

Please read this article, which is a printed form of an NPR investigation/information about Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and the debacle the Army program for (TBI) has become.

At this time there is still not a rationale reaction, however belated, by the Surgeon General of the Army, unless you consider the political dodge ball that is being played to be a legitimate reaction.   After this information  is digested, if it is palatable at all, I can add additional information that we could call “up close and personal.”   Since many of the soldiers who have concussive traumatic brain injuries also have PTSD, and subsequently try to cope with their demons by the use of alcohol and other substances,  the devastating consequences are evident to me on a daily basis.  In preview, since the majority of the sequelae of TBI and PTSD are in the behavioral/mental health sphere, the functional impairments are not taken seriously by the military and serious measures to deal with the devastating long term functional deficits are not getting the attention these injuries deserve, if any at all. Much more to follow on this subject.
